Barcelona have completed the signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, with the deal worth up to £69.3m including add-ons. The 25-year-old England international passed his medical earlier this week and has put pen to paper on a five-year contract.

Gordon was Newcastle's top scorer this season with 17 goals and excelled in the Champions League, scoring 10 times in 12 appearances as the Magpies reached the round of 16. Newcastle were eliminated by Barcelona in that very same tie, making Gordon's arrival at the Camp Nou all the more striking.

Bayern Munich had also been tracking Gordon, but Barcelona moved quickly once Newcastle accepted that the forward would be leaving. His arrival gives Hansi Flick a direct, powerful winger with pace and an eye for goal. Gordon becomes one of the most expensive English signings in La Liga history, and a key part of Barcelona's plans as they look to defend their title and challenge in Europe next season.
