Kylian Mbappe will not be leaving Real Madrid this summer despite a turbulent end to the campaign that has seen supporter relations deteriorate sharply. The club made their position clear after an online petition demanding the 27-year-old departure attracted more than 70 million signatures, one of the largest of its kind in football history.
Real Madrid are backing Mbappe to reset under Jose Mourinho, who is on the verge of being confirmed as the new head coach at the Santiago Bernabeu. Club officials have stated that any deal to move the French forward on would require a total package exceeding 350 million euros, a figure that rules out virtually all realistic suitors. Liverpool and Arsenal have been loosely linked but neither club is positioned to fund a transfer of that magnitude.
