Bernardo Silva has agreed to join FC Barcelona on a free transfer after nine years at Manchester City, signing a two-year contract worth around 8 million euros per season. The 31-year-old Portuguese midfielder rejected a financially superior offer from Atletico Madrid to fulfil a lifelong ambition of representing the Catalan club.

Sporting director Deco played a pivotal role in securing the deal, fending off competition from Atletico Madrid and Juventus. Barcelona plan to make the transfer official next week ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Silva will represent Portugal.
