Barcelona have made their first official move for Argentina forward Julian Alvarez, submitting a straight cash offer of 100 million euros with no add-ons or player exchanges. Atletico Madrid are not expected to accept the opening proposal and insist any deal must surpass 150 million euros for the forward who is under contract until 2030.

Alvarez has reportedly informed Atletico of his desire to leave this summer and has turned down advances from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain in favour of a move to the Spotify Camp Nou. Barcelona are hoping to conclude the deal before the 2026 World Cup begins, putting pressure on all parties to find an agreement in the coming weeks.
