Marcus Rashford is closing in on a permanent move to Barcelona after the club decided to exercise the option to sign him from Manchester United for around 30 million euros. Hansi Flick is understood to have pushed sporting director Deco to secure the deal, viewing Rashford as a key part of his plans for the 2026-27 season.

Rashford has been on loan at the Camp Nou since January and has made a significant impact, most notably scoring in the El Clasico victory over Real Madrid on May 10 that confirmed Barcelona as La Liga champions. He has won over the crowd with his work rate and directness, and the decision to keep him appears to have wide backing within the club.

To ease the financial burden of the transfer, Rashford has agreed to a 40 per cent wage reduction compared to his Manchester United contract and accepted a five-year amortisation of his signing fee. The deal is expected to be finalised once the summer window opens. Rashford will arrive at Barcelona as a permanent signing looking to build on a promising loan debut and push for more regular starts under Flick.
