Robert Lewandowski walked off the Camp Nou pitch for the last time on Sunday, unable to hold back the tears as 90,000 supporters rose to applaud one of the club's finest recent servants. The 37-year-old had confirmed his departure on Friday in a message on social media. The mission is complete, he wrote.

The occasion did not disappoint. Raphinha scored twice with confident, incisive finishes and Joao Cancelo sealed the 3-1 win over Real Betis with a powerful long-range strike. Isco pulled one back from the spot for the visitors, but there was only one story at Camp Nou. Lewandowski received a guard of honour from his teammates as he departed and was visibly emotional throughout his time on the pitch.

The result gave Barcelona a flawless home record of 19 wins from 19 matches, an achievement without precedent in top-flight Spanish football at the 38-game format. Hansi Flick said it had been a privilege to coach the Polish striker. In four seasons at the club Lewandowski scored 102 goals in all competitions, helping Barca to three La Liga championships including this season's title sealed in El Clasico on May 10, and the 2025 Copa del Rey. His next destination is unclear, with reported interest from clubs in Europe, Saudi Arabia and the United States.
