Hansi Flick is staying at Barcelona. The club confirmed on Tuesday that the German manager has agreed a new contract until 2028, with an option to extend by a further year. Flick described the decision in the simplest possible terms, saying he is in the right place. Those four words carry the weight of four trophies in under two seasons.

The deal was struck between Flick's representative Pini Zahavi and club president Joan Laporta, with sporting director Deco also involved in the final stages of negotiations. The announcement landed on the same day Barcelona held their La Liga title parade through the streets of the city — a fitting backdrop for a manager who has transformed the club's fortunes since arriving in the summer of 2024.

Flick's record at Barcelona reads: two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, one Spanish Super Cup. The team have lost just twice in the league this season, won all 17 home games, and currently sit on 91 points with three matches still to play. His methods have brought through young talent — most notably Lamine Yamal before his injury — while rebuilding a collective identity that had frayed under previous regimes. The extension confirms that both parties see the project as far from finished.
