Arsenal's injury concerns deepened over the weekend when Noni Madueke hobbled out of Wembley Stadium in a brace on his left knee following England's 1-1 draw with Uruguay.
The 24-year-old was forced off in the 38th minute after an awkward landing following a challenge from Rodrigo Aguirre. Thomas Tuchel admitted he was "worried" after the substitution. Madueke has since returned to London Colney for assessment and is expected to miss England's Tuesday friendly against Japan.
The severity of the injury is not yet confirmed, but his availability for Arsenal's FA Cup quarter-final against Southampton on Saturday is in serious doubt. The timing could not be worse. Arsenal already have Eberechi Eze, William Saliba, Gabriel, Leandro Trossard, Jurrien Timber and Martin Odegaard all managing fitness issues. Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka also withdrew from the England squad early as a precaution.
Arsenal lead the Premier League by nine points and face Sporting CP in their Champions League quarter-final first leg on April 7. Arteta will hold his pre-match press conference later this week when the full picture becomes clearer.
