Manchester City moved to within two points of Premier League leaders Arsenal with a dominant 3-0 home win over Brentford on Saturday, keeping their title hopes firmly alive heading into the final three gameweeks.
Jeremy Doku opened the scoring with a driving run and composed finish that set the tone for a dominant first half. Erling Haaland doubled the lead before the interval, his movement and clinical touch giving the Brentford backline no answer. Omar Marmoush added a third in the second half to complete the rout and send the Etihad into full title-race mode.
City had additional motivation beyond Brentford. Arsenal were not in action on Saturday, meaning a win guaranteed the gap would close before the Gunners could respond. That gap, which had stretched to five points after City's 3-3 draw at Everton on May 5, is now back to two. Pep Guardiola's men have lost just once in their last ten league games.
Arsenal now face West Ham, Burnley and Crystal Palace to close the season. Win all three and the title is theirs regardless of what City do. But Haaland and company have made clear they are not done. City travel to Chelsea and Bournemouth before a final-day home fixture against Aston Villa. One slip from Arsenal and the door swings wide open.
