Real Madrid have moved decisively to solve their left-back problem, reaching a verbal agreement with Chelsea to sign Spain international Marc Cucurella in a deal worth €60 million — €55m up front plus €5m in add-ons, confirmed by David Ornstein of The Athletic. Fabrizio Romano broke the news with his trademark HERE WE GO, stating that a full verbal agreement is in place between all parties including the player, and that Cucurella is the left-back personally requested by Jose Mourinho.

The deal ends Atletico Madrid's long pursuit of the former Brighton defender, who also had interest from Barcelona. Cucurella will sign a five-year contract at the Bernabeu and becomes Real Madrid's fourth signing of the summer alongside Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, and Bernardo Silva. An official announcement is expected once Cucurella's World Cup commitments with Spain conclude.
