Barcelona have officially completed the signing of Karim Adeyemi, bringing to a close a summer pursuit that began weeks before any public reports emerged. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the full agreement between the clubs on a deal worth €22 million fixed fee plus up to €9 million in performance-related bonuses — slightly higher than initially reported by Sky Germany's Patrick Berger. Dortmund also retain a sell-on clause on any future profit Barcelona make from the transfer. Adeyemi has signed a five-year contract running until June 2031 and will earn €6 million net per season at the Spotify Camp Nou.
President Joan Laporta praised the deal publicly, crediting sporting director Deco for orchestrating a move the club had planned well in advance: "We are very excited about Adeyemi. He has been tracked for a long time. He is dangerous and fast, and Deco did an excellent job." Adeyemi arrived in Barcelona on July 15, passed his medical the following day, and is set to be officially presented alongside Laporta and Deco on Thursday July 23. The 24-year-old is reunited with Hansi Flick, who handed him his senior Germany debut and personally pushed for his signing as part of a broader attacking overhaul at Camp Nou. He becomes Barcelona's second signing of the summer after Anthony Gordon.
