Real Madrid have completed a deal to sign Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries by triggering a 20 million euro release clause in the Dutchman contract. The 28-year-old passed his medical while on international duty with the Netherlands and has agreed personal terms ahead of a formal presentation at the Bernabeu.

Dumfries is set to fill the right-back role vacated by the long-term injured Dani Carvajal, and will compete for starts with Trent Alexander-Arnold. The official announcement is expected after the Real Madrid presidential election on Sunday, which Florentino Perez is widely expected to win.
