The most loaded weekend in English football this season. Arsenal and Manchester City meet at Wembley on Sunday afternoon in the 2026 EFL Cup Final — the first major trophy of the season, and the most significant domestic cup final in years given both clubs are separated by just nine Premier League points with a genuine title race still alive. Neither side has a Premier League fixture this weekend — their full focus is on Wembley. In La Liga, the Madrid Derby takes centre stage on Sunday night as Real Madrid host Atlético with the title race on the line. Barcelona play earlier in the day against Rayo Vallecano and can extend their lead to seven points. In the Premier League, Liverpool travel to Brighton with Mohamed Salah a doubt after coming off against Galatasaray midweek. Chelsea need a response at Everton after their 8-2 UCL humiliation against PSG. In Serie A, Napoli go to Cagliari to consolidate top spot, Inter visit Fiorentina, and Juventus host Sassuolo. Bayern face Union Berlin in the Bundesliga and Dortmund host Hamburg in a derby. In Ligue 1, PSG travel to Nice in a match that matters — they lead Lens by just four points with nine games remaining, and this title race is far from over.
**EFL CUP FINAL — WEMBLEY**
**Arsenal vs Manchester City**
The biggest domestic cup final in years and it doubles as a statement fixture in an increasingly compelling Premier League title race. Arsenal arrive at Wembley leading the table by nine points — 70 from 31 games — having beaten Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 on aggregate to reach the Champions League quarter-finals. Mikel Arteta's side are chasing an unprecedented quadruple and this is the first piece of silverware on offer. For Manchester City, this is about salvaging something from a season that has gone badly in Europe — they were eliminated 5-1 on aggregate by Real Madrid in the UCL round of 16 — and making a statement in the title race. Pep Guardiola knows a win keeps City mathematically alive and psychologically relevant. The key concern for Arsenal is Bukayo Saka, who has had a stop-start season with various knocks. Martin Odegaard is also working back to fitness. City are without the injured Josko Gvardiol for the season and Marc Guéhi is ineligible for the final having joined after the semi-finals. Erling Haaland has scored just five goals in his last 19 appearances and his form has been inconsistent. Arsenal have the momentum, the league position and home support divided. City have the experience of winning this competition nine times. This is the match of the weekend.
**LA LIGA**
**FC Barcelona vs Rayo Vallecano**
Four days after the 7-2 demolition of Newcastle, Barcelona return to La Liga against a Rayo side fighting to avoid relegation. Flick will rotate, with Yamal likely rested ahead of the international break and Gavi potentially getting extended minutes after his long-awaited comeback from a 204-day absence. Joan García has been cleared fit after his calf scare against Newcastle — a major relief. Absent: Balde, Koundé, Frenkie de Jong, Christensen. Rayo sit in 13th, six points above the drop zone, and are unbeaten in their last six league matches — but Barcelona are unbeaten in all 12 Camp Nou fixtures this season. A win before the Madrid Derby tonight could put Flick's side seven points clear at the top. This is a formality.
**Real Madrid vs Atlético Madrid — El Derbi**
The standout La Liga fixture of the weekend. Real Madrid host Atlético needing three points to stay within striking distance of Barcelona. Madrid have significant injury problems — Courtois is out with a thigh injury suffered against Manchester City, Militao still sidelined, Rodrygo done for the season with an ACL tear, Ceballos absent. Mbappe and Bellingham are both in recovery and could feature from the bench. Atlético arrive fresh from eliminating Tottenham 7-5 on aggregate in the Champions League, with Julián Álvarez in devastating form — 14 UCL goals in 17 matches. Atlético beat Madrid 5-2 at the Metropolitano in September. Derby matches between these two are typically tight — 16 of the last 20 have produced under 2.5 goals. Vinicius Júnior is in extraordinary form after his brace and viral crying celebration at the Etihad. Madrid to edge it, but nothing is certain.
**PREMIER LEAGUE**
**Bournemouth vs Manchester United**
Manchester United arrive off the back of a 3-1 win over Aston Villa — their most convincing performance in weeks under Ruben Amorim. Bournemouth have struggled for consistency at home since the turn of the year, losing their last two on the Vitality. United are without Luke Shaw long-term but Hojlund was sharp against Villa. Bournemouth miss Marcos Senesi through suspension. United have won four of their last six away fixtures. Three points keeps Amorim's side firmly in the top-four conversation.
**Brighton vs Liverpool**
One of the trickier away tests Liverpool face in the run-in. Brighton at the Amex have won three of their last four and are unbeaten in four of their last five home meetings with the Reds. The major concern is Mohamed Salah — he came off against Galatasaray midweek feeling something and headed straight down the tunnel. Arne Slot has refused to confirm his availability. Without Salah, Liverpool lose their most dangerous outlet. Also absent: Alexander Isak (surgery), Conor Bradley (knee, season over), Wataru Endo. Brighton are without Kaoru Mitoma (ankle) and sweat on Carlos Baleba. Florian Wirtz — Liverpool's record £116m signing from Bayer Leverkusen — has had a difficult debut season at Anfield with just four goals and three Premier League assists, still adjusting to the physicality of English football. Hugo Ekitiké scored a brace against Brighton earlier this season and gives Liverpool a physical option up front. Liverpool edge this, but the Amex will make it uncomfortable.
**Everton vs Chelsea**
Chelsea come into this on the back of a catastrophic Champions League week — 8-2 on aggregate against PSG — and Liam Rosenior desperately needs a Premier League response. Everton have won just two of their last nine league games and have little cutting edge at home. Chelsea are without Reece James (hamstring) and Malo Gusto but Cole Palmer is fit and motivated. Nicolas Jackson leads the line with eight Premier League goals. Chelsea's squad quality is simply superior and a win keeps them in the top-four conversation.
**SERIE A**
**Cagliari vs Napoli**
Napoli are top of Serie A and in outstanding form under Antonio Conte. Scott McTominay has been their surprise package with 8 goals and 6 assists from midfield. Romelu Lukaku leads the line with real purpose. Cagliari are fighting for survival near the bottom and beat Napoli 2-1 here last season — they will not roll over. However, Napoli have won seven of their last eight away fixtures and concede less than a goal a game on the road. A win takes them two points clear with a game in hand.
**AC Milan vs Torino**
Milan are fighting for Champions League qualification and cannot afford slip-ups against mid-table opposition. Under Sergio Conceicao they have steadied the ship and sit fourth, though the gap to fifth is just three points. Rafael Leão has rediscovered his best form and Alvaro Morata continues to deliver in the box. Torino arrive after a 4-1 defeat and have won just three times on the road all season. Milan's San Siro form has improved significantly — four consecutive home wins.
**Juventus vs Sassuolo**
Juventus have been grinding out results under Thiago Motta but this is a fixture where they can express themselves. Sassuolo sit in the bottom half and have conceded the third most goals in Serie A. Dusan Vlahovic is in form fresh from a brace against Udinese. Federico Chiesa remains a long-term absentee. Just two home losses at the Allianz this season.
**Fiorentina vs Inter Milan**
Inter travel to Florence unbeaten in their last five Serie A fixtures. Lautaro Martinez leads their attack with 18 league goals this season and Marcus Thuram is an excellent partner. Calhanoglu is a doubt with a knock but Inter have adequate cover. Fiorentina have little to play for domestically and have won just twice in their last six at the Franchi. Inter have too much quality across all departments.
**BUNDESLIGA**
**Bayern Munich vs Union Berlin**
Bayern are top of the Bundesliga and in the Champions League quarter-finals after a stunning 10-2 aggregate demolition of Atalanta. Harry Kane has 24 Bundesliga goals and leads the Golden Boot race. Union Berlin are mid-table and safe with nothing to play for. Bayern have won their last seven home league games, scoring 25 goals in that run. This is a formality at the Allianz Arena.
**Borussia Dortmund vs Hamburg**
Hamburg's return to the Bundesliga has been one of the great feel-good stories — but visiting Signal Iduna Park is a different proposition entirely. Dortmund have lost just once in their last eight Bundesliga matches. Serhou Guirassy leads their attack with 14 goals. Hamburg have conceded in their last six away games. The Yellow Wall with 81,365 fans is the most intimidating stand in European football.
**Heidenheim vs Bayer Leverkusen**
Leverkusen's Champions League campaign ended at Arsenal but the squad has been refocused on a strong Bundesliga finish. Florian Wirtz joined Liverpool last summer and is no longer at Leverkusen — the squad has been rebuilt around Granit Xhaka as the midfield engine and Jonas Hofmann in attack. Heidenheim sit in the bottom half and have struggled all season. Leverkusen have won four of their last five Bundesliga away games. Quality gap too large.
**LIGUE 1**
**Nice vs PSG**
Do not be fooled by PSG's Champions League dominance — Ligue 1 is a genuine title race. PSG lead RC Lens by just four points with nine games remaining. They lost 3-1 at home to Monaco on March 6 — their fourth league defeat of the season — and Lens closed to within one point before dropping points of their own against Lorient. PSG cannot afford any more slip-ups at Nice, who beat them 2-1 here last season and play with intensity in front of their own supporters. Kvaratskhelia and Barcola carry most of PSG's attacking threat. Ousmane Dembélé returns to sharpness after a calf issue. PSG win, but this is no stroll.
