Hansi Flick is set to formally sign his new Barcelona contract on Monday, sources close to the club have confirmed. The deal, which extends until 2028 with an optional year running to 2029 based on objectives, rewards Flick for delivering a second consecutive La Liga title after the famous 2-0 El Clasico win over Real Madrid on May 10.
Flick confirmed the agreement on May 12 after the title parade, stating that he is in the right place and ready to push for more trophies next season. His first campaign in Catalonia included a Liga triumph and deep European runs, and the club's hierarchy moved quickly to ensure continuity.
On the transfer front, sporting director Deco has identified Chelsea striker Joao Pedro as Barcelona's top summer priority. Deco has tracked the Brazilian since his Brighton days and has intensified contact in recent days after acknowledging that Julian Alvarez remains difficult to prize away from Manchester City. Chelsea, however, have made clear they have no intention of selling Pedro, with the forward viewed as central to their own project rebuild from the summer of 2026.
Robert Lewandowski's departure at the end of the season appears certain, with Chicago Fire having made a strong offer and the striker also attracting significant interest from Saudi Arabia. Lewandowski is waiting to speak with Flick directly to understand what role, if any, he would have at the club before making a final decision.
