Bernardo Silva has agreed a two-year contract with FC Barcelona, ending weeks of speculation over his next destination. The 31-year-old leaves Manchester City on a free transfer this summer after deciding against extending his deal at the Etihad Stadium.

Silva snubbed a more financially rewarding offer from Atletico Madrid, as well as interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and MLS, to pursue what has long been described as his dream move. He had been pushing for clarity before the World Cup, and Atletico were pressing him not to wait as Barcelona finalised their proposal.

The contract is understood to be worth around eight million euros per season over two years. Hansi Flick was a strong advocate for the signing and had identified the Portugal international as a key target for the summer window.

Silva is a versatile and intelligent midfielder capable of playing as an eight, a ten, or from wider positions. He arrives with extensive experience at the highest level, including Champions League titles and multiple Premier League winner's medals from his time at City. He becomes one of Barca's marquee arrivals of the summer.
