1. ARSENAL AND PSG BATTLE FOR EUROPEAN GLORY IN BUDAPEST

Arsenal and PSG meet in the UEFA Champions League final at Puskas Arena in Budapest this evening, with kick-off set for 18:00 CET. The Gunners arrive as newly crowned Premier League champions, returning to the final for the first time since 2006. Arsenal were imperious in the league phase, becoming the first club in history to win all eight of their group games, conceding just four goals across that stage.

PSG are the defending champions, bidding to become only the second side to retain the trophy since the competition was rebranded. Luis Enrique's side had a turbulent path — finishing 11th in the league phase — but have been electric in the knockouts, thrashing Chelsea 8-2, dismantling Liverpool 4-0 and surviving a breathless 6-5 aggregate semi-final against Bayern Munich. Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been the defining player of the run with seven knockout goals. The two sides met at this same stage last season, with PSG winning 3-1 on aggregate.

2. ANTHONY GORDON COMPLETES £69M BARCELONA SIGNING

Barcelona have officially completed the signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United. The England winger passed his medical in the Catalan capital on Friday and put pen to paper on a five-year contract at the Camp Nou. The fee stands at £69.3 million, rising to £80 million with add-ons — enough to see off sustained interest from Bayern Munich, who had long believed they were the frontrunners.

Gordon, 24, finished the 2025-26 season as Newcastle's top scorer with 17 goals and 10 assists, establishing himself as one of the most direct and dangerous wide players in the Premier League. Barcelona moved quickly to lock in the deal ahead of the World Cup, with Hansi Flick keen to add pace and energy to his attacking line alongside Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

3. MOURINHO APPOINTMENT TO GO AHEAD DESPITE MADRID ELECTION CHAOS

Real Madrid are pressing ahead with the formal appointment of Jose Mourinho as their new head coach, with an announcement expected after the club's presidential elections on June 7. Mourinho has already signed a two-year contract, with an automatic third year included if he wins La Liga. The process has hit a financial snag — the €7 million release clause in his Benfica contract expired on May 26 before Real could formally activate it, meaning Los Blancos will now pay a higher compensation fee.

Despite that complication and the distraction of the presidential race — with Enrique Riquelme challenging Florentino Perez — Mourinho is already engaged in summer transfer planning talks with the Bernabeu hierarchy. The Portuguese returns to Madrid for the first time since winning back-to-back La Liga titles in his first spell over a decade ago.

4. BARCELONA FACE €150M DEMAND FOR JULIAN ALVAREZ AS BERNARDO SILVA PUSHES FOR MOVE

Barcelona's summer window is growing in ambition alongside the Gordon deal. Atletico Madrid have told the Catalan club that Julian Alvarez is available but have set a non-negotiable price of €150 million and refused to accept any player exchange as part of the deal. The Argentine striker was superb in La Liga this season after joining Atletico from Manchester City last summer.

On a separate track, Bernardo Silva — now a free agent after leaving Manchester City — is pushing hard to move to the Camp Nou. Barcelona are weighing up the deal given the depth they already carry in midfield positions, and the decision is understood to rest with Flick. With the Gordon signing already done, Barcelona's financial headroom will be closely watched as they navigate both pursuits.

5. ANDY ROBERTSON AGREES FREE TRANSFER TO TOTTENHAM

Andy Robertson has agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer after ending his nine-year association with Liverpool. Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed a verbal agreement is in place, with the 32-year-old Scotland captain having turned down an approach from Juventus to commit to Spurs. The move was contingent on Tottenham surviving Premier League relegation, which they secured on the final day with a 1-0 win over Everton.

Robertson made over 350 appearances for Liverpool, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup. He is expected to be unveiled as the first signing of Roberto de Zerbi's tenure as Tottenham head coach, with an announcement anticipated before the World Cup gets under way on June 13.
