1. MOURINHO AGREES REAL MADRID RETURN AS NINE-PLAYER FIRESALE IS PLANNED

Jose Mourinho has reached an agreement to become Real Madrid's new manager this summer, according to multiple reports confirmed on Tuesday. The Portuguese, who led Madrid to La Liga and Copa del Rey glory between 2010 and 2013, is set to return to the Bernabeu with full backing from president Florentino Perez to rebuild a squad that has fallen apart this season. Work on his behalf has been progressing behind the scenes despite Mourinho's public insistence that clubs, not professionals, initiate conversations.

The rebuild will be sweeping. As many as nine players are expected to leave in a firesale ahead of Mourinho's arrival. David Alaba and Dani Carvajal depart as free agents, while Eduardo Camavinga, Raul Asencio, Alvaro Carreras and Dani Ceballos are among those expected to be sold. Fran Garcia, Gonzalo Garcia and Franco Mastantuono are also considered surplus to requirements under the incoming manager.

2. RONALDO'S TITLE GOES TO THE FINAL DAY AFTER BRUTAL NASSR OWN GOAL

Cristiano Ronaldo's Saudi Pro League title hopes survived — but only just — as Al Nassr drew 1-1 with Al Hilal in Tuesday's Riyadh capital derby. Mohamed Simakan gave the hosts the lead with a 37th-minute header from a corner scramble, and Nassr held firm for much of the second half with the championship in sight. Then came the 90th minute.

Sustained Al Hilal pressure forced a corner and from the resulting chaos goalkeeper Bento turned the ball into his own net, silencing Al Awwal Park instantly. Al Nassr remain five points clear with one game remaining, so their title destiny is still in their own hands — but the manner of Tuesday's collapse will sting. Ronaldo still awaits his first Saudi Pro League crown. The title goes to the final round.

3. ARSENAL ON THE BRINK — CITY FACE PALACE TONIGHT IN DEFINING MOMENT

The Premier League title race reaches a critical juncture tonight when Manchester City host Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium (19:00 GMT). Arsenal lead by five points with two games remaining. If Guardiola's side drop points, the Gunners' advantage becomes mathematically insurmountable before they have even kicked a ball again.

Arsenal need two wins from Burnley and Crystal Palace to be confirmed as champions — their first title in 22 years. Prediction markets have them at 86 percent favourites. The question tonight is whether City can stay in touch or whether Arsenal will be celebrating before their next match is even played.

4. FLICK SIGNS NEW BARCELONA CONTRACT UNTIL 2028

Hansi Flick has committed his future to Barcelona by agreeing a contract extension until 2028, with an option for a further year. The German signed off on the deal on Tuesday, two days after delivering the La Liga title by beating Real Madrid 2-0 in El Clasico. Flick stated simply that he is in the right place.

The announcement came on the same day Barcelona held their La Liga title parade through the city. Flick has now won four major trophies in under two seasons — back-to-back league titles, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. Terms were agreed between his agent Pini Zahavi and club president Joan Laporta. The project continues.

5. TRANSFERS: UNITED AGREE EDERSON TERMS, LIVERPOOL HUNT SALAH REPLACEMENT

Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Atalanta midfielder Ederson and are set to submit a bid of around 45 million euros to the Italian club. The Brazilian has been one of Serie A's standout performers this season and represents United's first confirmed piece of summer business. Andrea Cambiaso of Juventus is also attracting interest from United, Arsenal and Liverpool as a left-sided option.

Liverpool are already planning life without Mohamed Salah, who departs as a free agent at the end of the season, with Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche identified as a potential replacement. Anthony Gordon is expected to leave Newcastle, while Salah, Bernardo Silva, Robert Lewandowski and Rasmus Hojlund are among the high-profile names heading for exits this summer. The window opens on June 1.
