1. ARSENAL VS FULHAM TONIGHT — SIX POINTS CLEAR IF THEY WIN
Arsenal host Fulham at the Emirates this evening in the Premier League (5:30pm UK / 4:30pm Ghana). A win takes them six points clear of Manchester City — who do not play again in the league until Monday at Everton — with four games each remaining. After Wednesday's 1-1 draw at Atletico Madrid in the UCL semi-final, Arteta's side showed they can fight on two fronts. Saka returned from injury and completed the full game. Calafiori returned to the bench midweek and could start. Timber and Merino remain out. Fulham are 10th and chasing a European spot — they have never won in 32 away trips to Arsenal in all competitions. Arsenal beat them 1-0 at Craven Cottage earlier this season through a Trossard goal. Arteta confirmed at his pre-match press conference: "We want to win every game. We are going for everything."
2. UCL SECOND LEGS NEXT WEEK — ARSENAL AND ATLETICO ON TUESDAY, PSG AND BAYERN ON WEDNESDAY
The Champions League semi-final second legs are set for next week. Arsenal host Atletico Madrid at the Emirates on Tuesday May 5 — the tie is level at 1-1 after Gyokeres and Alvarez traded penalties in Madrid on Wednesday. Arsenal need only a draw at home to advance to their first UCL final since 2006. Atletico, who have won 11 of 15 two-legged ties against English clubs, will back themselves to score. PSG host Bayern in the second leg in Munich on Wednesday May 6 — PSG lead 5-4 after one of the greatest UCL semi-finals ever played. Bayern need two goals and must keep PSG out. Both finals spots will be decided next week. The Budapest final is May 30.
3. NEYMAR WORLD CUP PLACE IN THE BALANCE — ANCELOTTI DECISION MAY 18
Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has said his World Cup squad is "quite defined" — and Neymar is not guaranteed a place in it. Ancelotti has left the 34-year-old out of every call-up since taking charge in June 2025, pointing consistently to fitness as the issue. Speaking to L'Equipe, he said: "If he gets back to 100%, which he is fully capable of, he will be able to play for the national team. I will call up the fittest players." In a remarkable move, Ancelotti even consulted Brazilian president Lula over whether to include Neymar — Lula said: "If he's physically fit, he's got the football." The final squad of 26 will be announced on May 18 in Rio de Janeiro. Endrick, Vinicius, Raphinha, Igor Thiago and Lucas Paqueta are all considered certain starters. Neymar has scored 12 goals in his last 10 games for Santos but his fitness remains the concern. Yamal, asked about Neymar recently, said: "He's my idol. I'll always be grateful for everything he's given to football."
4. MAN UNITED VS LIVERPOOL — SUNDAY AT OLD TRAFFORD
Manchester United host Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday in one of the biggest fixtures of the Premier League weekend. United are third in the table, two points from Champions League qualification. Liverpool are fifth, three points behind Chelsea in fourth. A win for either side could have significant implications for the top-four race. Kobbie Mainoo, fresh from signing his new contract until 2031, is expected to start alongside Bruno Fernandes in midfield. Mainoo told Sky Sports: "I've loved every minute of it, especially under the boss now. Just feeling the confidence." Mohamed Salah, who has reportedly played his last game for Liverpool, is expected to lead the line at Old Trafford for potentially the final time in a Liverpool shirt.
5. BARCELONA VS MALLORCA TOMORROW — TITLE COULD BE CONFIRMED
Barcelona face Mallorca at Camp Nou tomorrow (Saturday) in La Liga. If they win and Real Madrid fail to beat Espanyol on Sunday, the La Liga title is confirmed. Barcelona are 11 points clear with five games remaining. Raphinha returned to group training this week and is pushing for a place in the squad after missing six weeks with a hamstring injury. Yamal remains out. Flick confirmed at his press conference: "We know what is at stake. We want to win the title as soon as possible." A win tomorrow and a Madrid slip-up on Sunday would hand Barca their second successive La Liga title — and the first ever won under Hansi Flick.
