1. KONATE AGREES REAL MADRID FREE TRANSFER AHEAD OF JUNE 7 ELECTIONS

Ibrahima Konate has agreed personal terms with Real Madrid on a four-year contract, with the deal set to be formally announced once Florentino Pérez is confirmed as president following Sunday's election. The French centre-back leaves Liverpool as a free agent after his contract expired and turned down lucrative Saudi Arabia offers to wait for Madrid to make their move.

Konate has reportedly agreed a verbal agreement with the club and will become the second former Liverpool player to make the move to the Bernabéu in as many seasons, following in the footsteps of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The deal is contingent on Pérez winning re-election on June 7, which he is heavily favoured to do against challenger Enrique Riquelme.

The 27-year-old arrives to help fill the defensive void left by the departures of David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger, both of whose contracts have expired. Madrid are expected to announce the deal and confirm their new manager within days of each other next week.

2. MANCHESTER UNITED CONFIRM EDERSON SIGNING AS CARRICK EYES MORE ADDITIONS

Manchester United have agreed a deal with Atalanta for the signing of Brazilian midfielder Ederson Silva in a move worth £38 million rising to £39m with add-ons. The 26-year-old will sign a contract until 2030 with an option for a further year and becomes the first signing of the Michael Carrick era at Old Trafford.

Carrick moved quickly to address United's midfield after Casemiro's departure, and Ederson was identified as the priority target. Sky Sports reports that the United manager wants at least four more signings this summer as he looks to reshape a squad that finished outside the top four last season.

The Brazilian brings energy, pressing ability, and significant Serie A experience to a United midfield that lacked both last season. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal is done, with Ederson now awaiting the opening of the transfer window on June 15 to complete formalities and be officially registered.

3. ENGLAND TOUCH DOWN IN FLORIDA AHEAD OF WORLD CUP WARM-UPS

England's 26-man World Cup squad arrived at their preparation camp in Miami on Monday as Thomas Tuchel begins the final phase of his build-up before the tournament. The Three Lions face New Zealand in Tampa on Saturday June 6 and Costa Rica in Orlando on June 10 before relocating to their permanent base in Kansas City on June 13.

Harry Kane captains the squad and the focus in Florida has been on fitness and tactical sharpness ahead of what Tuchel has described as a formative tournament for this group. England open their Group L campaign against Serbia before facing the United States and then Ghana.

The preparation camp marks the last chance for fringe players to stake a claim for starting positions. Tuchel has kept his tactical hand close to his chest, but the general expectation is that England will set up in a fluid 4-3-3 built around Kane and the club form of their attacking options.

4. LEAO CONFIRMS AC MILAN EXIT WITH MANCHESTER UNITED HIS PREFERENCE

Rafael Leao has officially confirmed his desire to leave AC Milan this summer, ending a seven-year association with the Rossoneri. In a televised interview with Sport TV, the Portuguese forward expressed gratitude to the club but stated clearly that he is ready for a new challenge in another major European league.

Leao, who remains under contract until 2028, will only be sold on Milan's terms. The club is open to his departure but will not accept below their asking price, with fees in the region of €40-50 million discussed in the market. Milan are reported to be chasing Crysencio Summerville of West Ham as a potential replacement.

Manchester United have emerged as Leao's preferred destination. The 26-year-old is understood to have already made clear his preference for Old Trafford. He is expected to hold off making any final decision until after Portugal's World Cup campaign concludes.

5. FLICK WINS LA LIGA COACH OF THE YEAR AS KOUNDE PLEDGES FUTURE TO BARCELONA

Hansi Flick was named La Liga Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season on Thursday, collecting the award after guiding Barcelona to back-to-back league titles. The German has transformed the squad since his arrival and this season's title, sealed with a 2-0 El Clásico win over Real Madrid in May, stands as the centrepiece of his tenure.

Jules Kounde added welcome news from the France camp, stating ahead of an upcoming friendly against Ivory Coast that he hopes to remain at Barcelona. The right-back has been one of the most consistent performers under Flick and his public commitment will ease concerns as the club plans beyond the departures of several senior figures.

Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva confirmed through agent Jorge Mendes that he is giving Barcelona time to make their case and will reach a final decision after the World Cup. The 31-year-old is available on a free transfer from Manchester City and a move to Camp Nou would represent one of the summer's most significant free acquisitions.
