1. MOURINHO SIGNS CONTRACT TO RETURN AS REAL MADRID MANAGER

Jose Mourinho has put pen to paper on a three-year deal to become Real Madrid manager, with his official presentation set for June 8 — the day after the club's presidential election. Florentino Perez confirmed on Wednesday that Mourinho's appointment is contingent on Perez winning against challenger Enrique Riquelme in Sunday's vote, the club's first contested election in 20 years.

The 63-year-old Portuguese coach will be supported by assistants Joao Tralhao and Pedro Machado, both of whom worked alongside him at Benfica. This will be Mourinho's second stint at the Bernabeu, having previously led the club to La Liga and Copa del Rey success in his first three-year tenure between 2010 and 2013.

2. BERNARDO SILVA AGREES TWO-YEAR DEAL WITH BARCELONA

Bernardo Silva has chosen Barcelona over Atletico Madrid, agreeing a two-year contract worth around eight million euros per season after leaving Manchester City as a free agent. The 31-year-old Portugal international turned down a more financially rewarding offer from Atletico in order to fulfil a longstanding ambition to play for Barca.

Silva had been pressing for clarity on his future ahead of the World Cup, with Atletico urging him not to wait for Barcelona to finalise their proposal. Hansi Flick made the midfielder a priority signing, and Silva arrives with Champions League and Premier League winners medals from his time at the Etihad Stadium.

3. GHANA NAME WORLD CUP SQUAD WITHOUT KUDUS

Coach Carlos Queiroz officially named Ghana's final 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup on Monday, confirming that Mohammed Kudus will miss the tournament. The Tottenham Hotspur winger, who was arguably the Black Stars' most dangerous attacker, suffered a quad injury earlier this season that required surgery and could not recover in time.

Defender Mohammed Salisu is also absent through injury, while veteran forward Andre Ayew was not selected after Queiroz opted for a younger attacking group. Antoine Semenyo and Inaki Williams will carry the attacking responsibility in Group L, with Ghana facing Panama on June 17, England on June 21, and Croatia on June 25.

4. ARSENAL PUSHING TO SIGN LEICESTER WONDERKID JEREMY MONGA

Arsenal are in advanced discussions to sign Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga in a deal that could exceed ten million pounds, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 16-year-old winger made history last August when he became the youngest scorer in Championship history, netting against Preston North End at just 16 years and 37 days.

The Gunners face competition from Manchester United, Newcastle and Leeds, with Arsenal said to be pushing ahead of those rivals. Monga has indicated he is open to the move, and a tribunal may determine the final fee given the player's age.

5. MAN UNITED CONFIRM EDERSON SILVA DEAL

Manchester United have finalised a deal to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson Silva for around fifty million pounds. The Brazilian had been the headline INEOS midfield target throughout the window, with personal terms on a five-year contract verbally agreed in late May.

Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte are both expected to depart Old Trafford this summer as part of a wider rebuild. INEOS are said to be planning at least one further midfield signing to sit alongside the Atalanta man in Erik ten Hag's overhauled engine room.
