1. ATLETICO MADRID REACH UCL SEMI-FINALS FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2017
Barcelona's remontada dream came up just short at the Metropolitano. Lamine Yamal scored in the 4th minute and Ferran Torres made it 2-0 on the night by the 24th to level the tie on aggregate. But Ademola Lookman countered to restore Atletico's lead at 3-2 on aggregate, and when Eric Garcia was sent off via VAR in the second half, the game was up. Atletico held on to win 3-2 on aggregate and reach the last four for the first time in nine years. Ferran Torres also had a second goal disallowed by VAR in the 55th minute. Atletico face either Arsenal or Sporting CP in the semi-finals.
2. PSG DISMANTLE LIVERPOOL 4-0 ON AGGREGATE — DEMBELE BRACE SILENCES ANFIELD
Liverpool could not muster a single goal across 180 minutes against PSG. Ousmane Dembele scored twice in the second half at Anfield — a curled effort from the edge of the area in the 72nd minute and a clinical finish on the break in added time — to seal a 2-0 win on the night and 4-0 on aggregate. Liverpool had a penalty overturned by VAR midway through the second half. Hugo Ekitike ruptured his Achilles in the first half and faces nine months out, putting his 2026 World Cup in serious doubt. PSG are through to the semi-finals, where they face either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid. Luis Enrique's side are targeting back-to-back Champions League titles — which no club has achieved since Real Madrid's three in a row from 2016 to 2018.
3. ARSENAL VS SPORTING CP — GUNNERS NEED JUST A DRAW TONIGHT
Arsenal host Sporting CP in the UCL quarter-final second leg at the Emirates tonight (8pm UK). Arsenal lead 1-0 on aggregate after Kai Havertz's injury-time winner in Lisbon last week. A draw is enough for Arsenal to progress to back-to-back UCL semi-finals for the first time in their history, where they would face Atletico Madrid. Mikel Arteta described his emotions this week as "fire — I am on fire." Arsenal are without Saka, Odegaard, Calafiori and Timber. Sporting have captain Morten Hjulmand back from suspension and winger Geovany Quenda returned from injury at the weekend. Sporting have not won in their last 10 visits to England.
4. REAL MADRID FACE ELIMINATION TONIGHT — NEED TO OVERTURN BAYERN'S 2-1 LEAD AT THE ALLIANZ ARENA
Real Madrid travel to Munich tonight needing to overcome a 2-1 first-leg deficit against Bayern. It is the biggest game of their season with La Liga already effectively gone — Barcelona lead by nine points. Bayern are unbeaten in 14 games, broke their own Bundesliga goals record last weekend (105 in a season) and have the Allianz Arena behind them. Kylian Mbappe is available despite a minor face injury from training and leads the UCL scoring charts with 14 goals. Tchouameni is suspended after picking up a yellow in the first leg. Madrid have not won in Munich since 2001, losing nine of 14 visits.
5. ARNE SLOT FACES QUESTIONS OVER LIVERPOOL FUTURE AS EKITIKE INJURY COMPOUNDS BRUTAL SEASON
Liverpool's Champions League exit to PSG confirmed a trophyless season. They lost the FA Cup to Manchester City and have failed to score in both legs against PSG. Arne Slot's decision to start Alexander Isak — making his first appearance since a broken leg — drew widespread criticism after the Swede lasted only 45 minutes. Ekitike's ruptured Achilles adds to the misery, with the striker now facing months out and potentially missing the 2026 World Cup in the summer. Liverpool now need a top-five Premier League finish just to secure Champions League football next season.
