Leeds United are heading to Wembley after one of the FA Cup quarter-finals of recent memory. They led 2-0 through Ao Tanaka and a Dominic Calvert-Lewin penalty, only for West Ham to equalise with two goals in stoppage time — Mateus Fernandes in the 90+3 and Axel Disasi in the 90+6.

Extra time settled nothing. The drama peaked in the shootout when Alphonse Areola was injured and replaced by 20-year-old Finlay Herrick, making his senior debut. Herrick saved Joel Piroe's opening penalty but Leeds goalkeeper Lucas Perri then denied Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Felipe. Pascal Struijk converted the winning spot kick. Leeds are in the last four for the first time since 1987.

The FA Cup semi-final draw has been made. Manchester City face Southampton and Chelsea face Leeds, with both ties at Wembley on the weekend of April 25-26.

In other news from Manchester, City assistant Pep Lijnders hinted after Saturday's Liverpool win that Bernardo Silva is set to leave the club at the end of the season, saying every good story comes to an end.
