Chelsea's Champions League season reaches what is almost certainly its conclusion tonight as Paris Saint-Germain visit Stamford Bridge defending a commanding 5-2 first leg advantage.
Liam Rosenior's side need to win by four goals against the defending European champions to reach the quarter-finals — a task that has only been achieved a handful of times in Champions League history, and never against a side of PSG's quality. The Blues have had a week to forget, following up their Paris nightmare with a chastening 1-0 home defeat to Newcastle at the weekend, with Anthony Gordon's tap-in condemning Chelsea to another home loss.
The mood around Stamford Bridge has darkened considerably. Reports emerged over the weekend that Rosenior's position is under threat, with Luis Enrique — ironically PSG's own former manager — emerging as a potential replacement. Enzo Fernández has also been linked with a summer departure, with the Argentine apparently unhappy with his situation at the club.
PSG, meanwhile, arrive in West London in relaxed mood. Luis Enrique gave his squad the weekend off after Ligue 1 postponed their fixture, allowing the holders to arrive fresh and fully focused. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who came off the bench to score twice in the dying minutes in Paris and turn a 2-2 draw into a 5-2 rout, will again be a devastating option from the bench.
