Real Madrid won 3-0 at El Sardinero and made it six wins in a row in all competitions. Kylian Mbappé scored from the spot, Jude Bellingham got his 50th goal for the club and Yan Diomande hit a volley into the top corner, all before half-time. Madrid are third on 27 points, a point behind Atlético and three behind Barcelona.
The stadium held a minute's silence before kick-off for the victims of the rail accident at Urda, in Toledo, and Madrid's players wore black armbands.
Three goals in 25 minutes
Madrid started on top. Arda Güler shot just wide on seven minutes from Trent Alexander-Arnold's pass, and three minutes later Julen Agirrezabala kept out a Bellingham header from Güler's cross on the line. On 11 minutes Matteo Prati brought down Mbappé in the box and Mbappé sent the penalty into the bottom left corner.
Racing's best moment came straight after. Iker Luque picked up a loose ball at the edge of the area and Thibaut Courtois saved.
On 21 minutes Güler slipped a pass in behind the defence, Bellingham ran from halfway, went round Agirrezabala and rolled the ball into an empty net.

"It's very special to reach 50 goals with Real Madrid," Bellingham said. "Not just for me and my dreams, but for the team. Sometimes it will be Mbappé, Vini Jr., Arda Güler or me, but the important thing is that everyone helps the team."
The third was the goal of the game. Racing half-cleared a corner, the ball dropped to Diomande at the edge of the box and he hit a right-footed volley into the top left corner on 36 minutes. "Incredible," Bellingham said. "I didn't know he could shoot like that. The goal against Leipzig was also really good. He's a special player."
A quieter second half
Racing came out stronger after the break, and Mourinho was visibly unhappy on the touchline. Yassir Zabiri had two chances and missed both. Madrid still made the better openings: Mbappé hit the post from distance just after the hour and Bellingham had a stoppage-time goal ruled out for offside.
Madrid finished with 22 shots to Racing's ten, and seven on target to one.
The penalty that was not
On 71 minutes the referee, José Luis Munuera Montero, gave Racing a penalty on his assistant's advice for a handball by Aurélien Tchouaméni in a challenge with Prati. VAR sent him to the monitor and he cancelled it. According to Madrid's match report, the ball had come off Tchouaméni involuntarily as he went for it.
Racing's coach José Alberto was not happy with the officials, both for Mbappé's penalty and for the process. "We have a very powerful tool and we don't know how, or don't want, to use it," he said. "That's what bothers me."
Mourinho saw it differently. "It's never a penalty, because of the rebound," he said. "When I saw it on the iPad, I thought, if VAR doesn't fall asleep, that's not a penalty." He described Munuera's performance as technically very good.
Mourinho: more goals
For all the control, Mourinho wanted more. "The team is growing and playing well," he said. "In my opinion, it should score more goals with the chances we had. But we're improving, and then in a low block the team knows how to stay compact."
He also picked out the work rate of his forwards. "When more attacking players do the hard, sacrificial work, it's also a positive message for the team."
He has been in charge for less than four months. "It's not much, but we've been growing progressively. The players understand better my character as a coach, and they understand the things that for me are not negotiable."
Courtois, captain
Courtois captained the side and, with his 346th appearance, equalled Miguel Ángel as the goalkeeper with the third most games in the club's history. "Playing 346 games with this club, with this badge, is an honour," he said. "Hopefully there are still plenty more."
He also kept a clean sheet, and admitted Madrid took their foot off the gas. "Until the 40th minute we were very good," he said. "In the second half I think we slowed the tempo down too much, but we defended well. Clean sheet, win and three points."
What comes next
Madrid go to AEK Athens in the Champions League on Wednesday and Valencia at Mestalla on Saturday. "The win against Barcelona was very good and today's too," Bellingham said, "but now our mentality is on the next game."
Our model called this one 3-1 to Madrid. They kept the clean sheet.
