Liverpool had fourteen shots against a Fulham side that had lost all three of its league matches, and put three of them on target. Twenty five crosses produced five that reached a teammate. It finished goalless.

The chances were there and the finishing was not

Three on target from fourteen attempts is a shot accuracy of 21 per cent. Fulham managed four on target from ten, and Alisson and the Fulham goalkeeper made three saves each, which is the statistical signature of a game in which neither box was properly threatened.

Liverpool won five corners to Fulham's eight. They completed 413 passes to 303 and had 56 per cent of the ball, and the crossing count is the story inside that: twenty five attempted, five accurate.

A first point for Fulham, and where they got it

Fulham lost at home to Chelsea, lost at Sunderland, and lost at home to Crystal Palace. Their first point of the season came at Anfield, and it came from thirty three clearances and sixty long balls.

Kenny Tete's booking on 81 was the only card of the afternoon. Fulham made four changes in the last half hour and none of them were about chasing a winner.

Both Wednesday casualties came through it

Bradley Barcola and Milos Kerkez both left the field injured against Atlético Madrid on Wednesday. Barcola started here and lasted 72 minutes. Kerkez replaced Kostas Tsimikas at half time and finished the match.

That is the most useful thing Liverpool take from the afternoon. Cody Gakpo and Alexis Mac Allister came on together on 60, Rio Ngumoha and Jeremie Frimpong on 72, which is four attacking changes and no goal to show for them.

Three draws in four

Liverpool drew 2-2 at Newcastle, drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest, won 2-0 at Ipswich, and have now drawn 0-0 at home with the team bottom of the division on Saturday morning. Six points from twelve.

They beat Atlético Madrid on Wednesday and could not beat Fulham on Saturday, and both of those are the same squad four days apart.
